Sometimes at Ewald Kubota, even we make mistakes.
Recently at one of our stores, we had a rotary cutter (a shredder) that had been sitting on our yard for nearly a year. When we installed it as a rental unit on one of our tractors we failed to pre-slip the slip-clutch before the customer used it. Consequently, when the customer hit a large stump with the cutter blade, the slip-clutch failed to absorb the impact properly and the gearbox shaft broke. Apparently, after sitting outside for so long, the slip-clutch had “frozen” and couldn’t do its job properly.
We’re telling you about our mistake so hopefully you won’t make the same one.
If your rotary cutter has a slip-clutch and hasn’t been used in a while, please follow the instructions in your owners-manual and pre-slip the clutch, so when you’re ready to use it, the machine is ready too. If you need help with this, please call one of our friendly service departments and we’ll walk you through the procedure.
We hope you have a great weekend!
